Objective

Cartography of the archaeological excavation site, near the village Dudeshtii Vechi in north-western Romania.
Our team made high definition aerial images of the excavation site of a recently found Neolithic village in the north-western Romania. The excavation project was led by the University of Tubingen.
Geo-referenced markers were places on earth to facilitate assembly and georeferencing, when creating orthophotos. To create an orthophoto the lens effects must be removed from the image and project it, into an appropriate coordinate system.
The orthophotos were included in the university’s database and will be used to study the positioning of the different buildings, the organization and the way of life in this ancient village.
Challenges: the shooting had to be carried out in a very short period of time, to minimize the grey areas in the images. This time range is the phase when the sun is closest to its zenith. On the other hand, the bad GPS signal forced the pilot to regain control of the autopilot and the machine, in order to carry out the mission.

Used equipment

  • Hexakopter Mikrokopter mounted with a 3-axis gimbal that compensates the unwanted vibrations and movements
  • Sony A6000 camera
  • MK Software tools (Mikrokopter) need to create an autopilot mission (GPS way points)

Objective

Make aerial shooting (start & finish) of the Vitosha marathon which held October 4, 2014

The beginning of the marathon was given in the Dragalevtsi district where our team has made an aerial video of the participants. Then we went to the Aleko hut to shoot another video of the finish line. The produced images were presented at the sports news following the daily news and the next day during the Sportna treska (Sports fever) show.

Objective

take aerial images of the archaeological excavation site near the village of Banya, near Bansko (Bulgaria)
Produce high definition aerial photos of the excavation project led by a team of the University of Heidelberg and more specifically the different parcels bounded by them. These images after processing will be used by the scientists to map the archaeological site.
Challenges: the shooting had to be carried out in a very short period of time to minimize the grey areas in the images. This time range is the phase when the sun is closest to its zenith.

  • Hexakopter with a flight controller APM 2.6 and mounted with 2 axis gimbal
